Feb 2010

The snow in January resulted in me having to cancel some things and take something of an enforced "rest." (I know there are some who will find that hard to believe.)

As a result I read a couple of really good books that have been waiting on my shelf for some time now. The point I want to make is that I initially hated and resented the fact that I could not do what I had planned to do, but actually I'm sure I benefited from it greatly.

What is your reaction when things don't go to plan? Are you resentful, or do you look for what God may have in store for you instead? Do you take it badly, or do you look for "the silver lining" rhat may be there?

Romans 8:28 declares that, "IN all things, GOD works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose." This is not a verse to be trotted out simply when things are going well, in order to prove to others that God is on our side. NO... this is a discipline that must be learned by all those who have responded to His touch of grace on thier lives. God's part is to work for our good, our part is to trust Him.

Notice that I said this is a discipline... it is hard work. It's Not our natural inclination, we have to work at it. We need to choose to believe that God WILL work for our good even when circumstances would be likely to overwhelm us.

You may be facing real differculty or tough decisions, and I will not underestimate them and the effect they may have on you. But let me remind you, our God is ALL POWERFUL and He has promised to bring you into His best. Trust Him and watch Him at work
